Meet Stefanie AndersonIBCLC, CBC, CBE, CD, CPD
My hope is for you to have the birth that you envision, whatever that may be, and for you and your baby to have the best relationship possible. There is no one perfect way to give birth; each parent, each baby, birth, and feeding relationship is unique and special and should be treated as such. I believe you should be educated about your options, and trusted to decide what is best for your body and your baby and receive complete support in your decisions. I would be so honored to be a support to you anywhere along your journey of parenthood. Warmly, Stefanie |
On a Personal Note...
I am the mother of four beautiful children. I have had high risk pregnancies, including gestational diabetes, pregnancy induced hypertension, and preterm labor. I have personally experienced epidural, Cesarean section, and VBAC births--and have experienced difficulty with feedings, including breastfeeding a baby with a tongue tie, and know how essential knowledgeable support is. It was the difficulty of my own pregnancies, births, and breastfeeding relationships that led me to pursue this profession.
I am currently an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, as well as a Certified Childbirth Educator, Breastfeeding Counselor, and Birth and Postpartum Doula. I've attended over 60 births at local hospitals and birth centers with various providers. I am a continual student and value the role of science and evidence-based practices in medicine. I also work as an inpatient lactation specialist at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Tacoma.
While not working with expectant families and new parents, I enjoy reading, baking, and playing piano. My family loves playing board games together and my husband and I can often be spotted walking in downtown Olympia with a cup of Batdorf and Bronson coffee in hand.
